Introduction:
Sometimes, the best adventures begin with a simple message in your inbox. This is the story of my exhilarating Matheran trek, a journey that unfolded with unexpected twists, camaraderie, and breathtaking views. Joined by fellow trekkers from the BCF team and guided by the capable hands of BCF organizers, this trek was not just about conquering the trail but also about forging lasting bonds and creating cherished memories.
Inbox Inspiration and Slot Confirmation:
It all started when a meetup notification piqued my interest. Eager to embark on a new adventure, I invited my friend Varun to join me. After confirming slot availability with Naveen, one of the organizers, we sealed the deal by making our payments and securing our spots for the Matheran trek. With Varun bringing along his friend Ratan Raj, our group swelled to 26 members, including the dynamic trio of organizers – Naveen, Manasa, and Shashikanth.
Setting Off on a Rainy Day:
As the departure date neared, our excitement grew. On a rainy evening, we gathered at Lingampalli station, ready to embark on a memorable journey. Despite the weather, our spirits were high, and we set off on our overnight train adventure.
An Eventful Journey:
The train ride provided an opportunity to connect with fellow trekkers, each of us fueled by the anticipation of the adventure ahead. The train rolled into Pune on a misty morning, where we regrouped and prepared for the next leg of our journey. A quick pit stop at Lunavala allowed for a brief respite before we continued our journey in an omni van.
Brunch and Trekking Bliss:
Our journey took us through picturesque landscapes, with the intermittent rain adding a touch of magic to the experience. A stop at Bhagya sree restaurant for brunch provided us with the sustenance needed for the upcoming trek. By 2 PM, we were on our way to Ambai Badi Village, the starting point of our trek. The eight-kilometer stretch ahead promised both challenges and rewards.
Ascending to the Hilltop:
As we embarked on the trek, the natural beauty around us was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The Matheran landscape unfolded before us, lush and vibrant. Our journey to the hilltop took around four hours, a testament to our determination and teamwork. While some took an extra hour, the collective joy upon reaching the summit was palpable.
Hotel Lakeview and Culinary Delights:
Our arrival at Hotel Lakeview marked the end of a challenging yet fulfilling day. Dinner at Akshay restaurant near Matheran railway station was a treat for our taste buds, despite the slightly lengthy wait. As the night descended, a game of cards under the stars brought us all closer, sharing laughter and stories that lingered long after.
A New Day, New Trails:
Day two began with an early wake-up call and an invigorating start. The trek led us to Charlotte Lake, Lords/Alexander Point, and Echo Point, each offering its unique charm and breathtaking vistas. A hearty breakfast preceded our journey back to Matheran railway station, where we captured memories through the lens and continued our exploration.

Homeward Bound:
The return journey was a mix of reflection and camaraderie. Our group found itself at Luna Walla, enjoying a satisfying lunch and a bit of shopping. With hearts full of memories and bags filled with experiences, we boarded the train, sharing stories and laughter, forming connections that would last beyond the trek.
Conclusion:
The Matheran trek with the BCF team and the guidance of organizers Naveen, Manasa, and Shashikanth was a testament to the power of adventure and camaraderie. From the initial decision to embark on this journey to the final moments of the return trip, every step was marked with laughter, challenges, and unforgettable moments. As I look back on this rainy expedition, I am reminded that the best memories are often made when we step out of our comfort zones and embrace the beauty of nature and human connection. The Matheran trek will forever hold a special place in my heart, a reminder that every adventure is an opportunity to create lasting bonds and celebrate the beauty of our world.
